Trends come from the gutter

It is a sad truth that the older you are then the less likely you are to start a trend.

Why?

Because as we all get older we are more likely to conform.

To find new trends you should look to the edges of society – skiing is a great example and you can predict quite accurately how things will change by looking at the fringes – long skis to short skis, carvers, telemark and so on all emerged, evolved or re-emerged due to small groups of people trying something different. Was it because they were bored of what they had been doing? Possibly, but I like to think of it as them wanting to find something new to do.
